Profiles has an exciting opportunity for a director-level UX professional to lead the team of an industry leader in the retail marketplace as the Director, User Experience. The position is a local, hybrid remote position located in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area. Candidates local to the area encouraged to apply.

The Director, User Experience will lead, develop, and define the user experience strategy across various digital platforms, directing and supporting the goals of the UX department. The ideal UX Design Director will work to identify and understand current and emerging customer behavior and web / mobile technology trends. 

UX Design Director Responsibilities:

  • Lead overall UX strategy and interaction design.
  • Develop and direct the User Experience team to deliver strategic, innovative end-to-end user experiences that will optimize user needs, business goals, and technological realities across desktop, web & mobile platforms.
  • Adopt a mobile first approach.
  • Own the overall UX vision, strategy, UI specs and wire-frames and prototypes at various levels of fidelity.
  • Test and iterate ideas using prototypes to experiment with customers.
  • Lead a team of internal and external interaction designers.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Technology to identify critical customer needs, challenges, and insights.
  • Implement findings into UX solutions.
  • Oversees the analysis and research dedicated to the end user, collaborating with Marketing, IT, and Operations to ensure an enjoyable customer experience.
  • Defines and develops actionable processes utilized by the user experience team to execute the overall digital strategy.
  • Provide leadership and recommendations necessary to accomplish business objectives.
  • Develop strategies that benefit the customer in focus area and across multiple portfolios.
  • Ensure alignment across the triad in domain.
  • Help define the organization vision.
  • Provide input into the business strategy.
  • Help craft and own the key stories and mission, vision of the team.

UX Design Director Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors/Four-year Degree preferably in Design, HCI, Human Factors Design Strategy or design research related field or equivalent.
  • 10 years of experience as a UX Designer with at least 2 years leading product teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality design output.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in managing multiple stakeholders and senior leadership expectations.
  • Experience leading and managing a multiple 3-10 designer team, or groups of teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Design and prototyping tools (ability to craft rapid experiments and research to deliver experiences).
  • Strong Design Leadership and Management with excellent influencing skills.
  • Define Style Guides and Pattern Library for global design patterns.
  • Design for Accessibility.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Lean UX and Mobile First.
  • Proven success working on concept, interface and experiences for innovative large-scale projects, actively collaborating within a cross-functional team.
  • Deep understanding of user interface, interaction, and visual design.
  • Up-to-the-minute knowledge of design trends in mobile, web, and motion design.
