We have an opportunity with the product team of a Fortune 200 financial services corporation! Profiles is seeking a UX Design Researcher to join the team for a contract assignment in Richmond, VA.

The UX Design Researcher will support the design team of a big product and aid in planning, conducting, analyzing, and sharing research to propel the design. The UX Design Researcher will also contribute to the overall design strategy by maintaining a learning agenda, research roadmap, and knowledge base. 

UX Design Researcher Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with technology, product, and business teams to inform intuitive and engaging customer experiences and truly embrace and advocate for an experience mindset – this is as important to the work as the results.
  • Translate complex ideas into understandable concepts that evolve and enhance the product experience.
  • Advocate for the customer through human-centered design methodologies and prioritize design-centered product enhancements that are grounded in research and analysis.
  • Actively teach and mentor designers and help evolve the team’s research techniques and toolset to work effectively in cross-team collaboration.
  • Working with partners and teams across various geographies.
  • Demonstrate fluency with design research tools and techniques to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making and prioritization.
  • Conduct in-person and remote research studies at all stages from discovery to validation, using a variety of methods to understand customer needs and define opportunities such as usability studies, card sorting, field studies, cognitive walk-throughs, contextual inquiry, participatory design.
  • Distill findings into clearly articulated and actionable insights to influence the direction of research for stakeholders.
  • Help both designers and non-designers across various teams understand and apply research findings by effectively presenting problems, defining insights, demonstrating usability approaches, and designing new methodologies/practices to serve customer needs.
  • Facilitating and participating in workshops with internal and external stakeholders to align with business needs.
UX Design Researcher Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of user-centered design research experience.
  • Basic understanding of digital product design best practices.
  • 3 years of experience of full-life cycle research and inspection methods which occur from ethnography all the way to statistically based user testing.
  • 3 years of experience working on consumer and mobile products.
