General Assignment Reporter, Los Angeles

A leader in the media and journalism industry is hiring a News Reporter in Los Angeles, CA  for a full-time position, onsite five days a week.

News Reporter Requirements:

• 1–3 years of experience writing or editing in a fast-paced digital newsroom

• Strong news judgment with the ability to quickly identify engaging stories from multiple sources

• Proven ability to write and reframe stories clearly, accurately, and with compelling angles

• Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple stories simultaneously

• Familiarity with WordPress or a similar CMS

• Strong understanding of SEO best practices and headline optimization

• Experience monitoring news wires, social platforms, and other outlets for breaking news

• Ability to verify information quickly and ensure accuracy when aggregating content

• Clear, clean, and concise writing skills

• Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with editors in a high-velocity environment

• On-camera experience or willingness to appear on video is a plus

• Strong social media presence or interest in audience engagement is a plus

• Spanish or additional language fluency is a plus

News Reporter Responsibilities:

• Deliver exclusive stories and breaking news coverage across Los Angeles that drives audience engagement

• Write fast, clean, and compelling copy aligned with the Post’s distinctive voice and style

• Identify stories with national relevance, viral potential, or exclusive angles

• Develop sources across city agencies, emergency services, and local communities

• Monitor court filings, public records, news wires, and social media for scoops and trending topics

• Collaborate closely with editors and fellow reporters to ensure coordinated coverage

• File real-time updates across web, social, mobile, and video platforms

• Uphold the highest standards of journalistic accuracy, fairness, and integrity
